Transition in Place

Every year, during the month of February we pay homage to those great African American pioneers who made history not just as Americans, but on the world stage in their fields of endeavor.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, Black History Month is the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating Black history.
HANDUP: PROGRESS THROUGH CARING
Transitioning and progress are two important goals at HandUp Community Resource Center. Whether it be a change in career, housing, personal lifestyle changes, a small gain or a victorious win -- a win for you is a win for us. We are a multifaceted program with many resources to offer our cherished veterans and our community.
At HandUp, we are embracing a philosophy that strives to provide support and direction to whoever, whenever, and wherever. We work with individuals using a holistic approach that encourages and challenges individuals to enter a long-term partnership. Through this partnership, we work with the individual, family members, friends, and other community resources to help foster healing, communication, exposure, and safety over life’s trouble. HandUp Community Resource Center simply wants the individuals that we serve to know that we care.
“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” – George B. Shaw
NEW VETLINK SERVICE: MEDICARE INSURANCE SUPPORT

HandUp Community Resource Center has expanded our support services to include Medicare Insurance for all eligible individuals who need these services.
We explain what Medicare is, who is eligible for these services, what Medicare covers (as far as medical cost), how much Medicare costs monthly, how to get assistance with finding general information, and how to proceed forward with getting Medicare.
Having healthcare is essential when trying to stay healthy. In America, there are over 5,000 health insurance companies. Over 28 million individuals in the United States are uninsured. HandUp Community Resource Center is an advocate for the uninsured, and we are excited to now provide information and link clients with ourMedicare/Medicaid Healthcare Specialist,
